Joel N. Usher is a former Youth Minister and Associate Minister at New Greater Smith Baptist Church in Columbus Tx. where Joseph Hargrove is Pastor. Born and raised in Columbus Tx., Pastor Usher attended college in Phoenix Az, and then moved back to Texas towards the end of 2004.
Mr. Usher announced his calling and preached his first sermon Jan. of 2007. In 2010, he had a mission to create an after-school program for kids which became the Columbus Youth Center the predecessor to what is now Boys & Girls Club, in which he was a director for about 5 years. Back home, at his home church at New Greater Smith, Minister Usher became the youth minister growing the Bible Study group, strengthening the young people’s minds spiritually, and challenging the world narratives for young people with Biblical truths.
In November of 2019, Minister Usher answered the call to become the proud Pastor of Glidden Baptist Church. In his own words he says, “I felt that this church has a strong foundation to want to serve and love on people”.
It is Pastor Usher’s belief that the word of God has called every believer to share the gospel to heal the broken hearted, to set people free from the captivity of sin, to love God through obedience and love our neighbor by being a disciple who makes disciples. Come as you are, repent of your way, accept God’s grace, and be transformed into the image of Christ for the glory of God and the advancement of His Kingdom!
